Hatebreed vocalist Jamey Jasta has secured the rights to Milwaukee Metalfest, the Midwestern U.S. heavy metallic pageant that final ran as Milwaukee Metalfest XIX in 2007.
Auspiciously, after that 16-year break, the outstanding metalcore musician is planning to carry Milwaukee Metalfest again to Wisconsin’s most populous metropolis in 2023. And he is doing it partially as a tribute to a buddy within the metallic neighborhood that he lately misplaced.
This week, pageant founder Jack Koshick formally handed the fest to Jasta, with each providing remarks.
Jasta says, “I’m so grateful and thrilled that Jack Koshick has handed the Milwaukee Metalfest torch off to me. He’s a visionary and we’ll stick with it the Milwaukee Metalfest legacy for years to return.”
The Hatebreed bandleader and The Jasta Present podcast host continues, “So many people have nice reminiscences from Milwaukee Metalfest, and the time is true for it to return. On a latest podcast I did with the late [Black Dahlia Murder vocalist] Trevor Strnad, I fantasized about bringing the fest again and even needed Trevor to curate it with me. Koshick says the historic metallic pageant “has been a labor of affection for me. I began engaged on it after I was 29; I’m now 66. I wish to thank all these residing and lifeless for making this dream come true.”
