The Mobile Operators Affiliation of India (COAI) has demanded that over-the-top (OTT) gamers should pay for utilizing the telecom networks to stream their content material and the “utilization cost” shall be determined mutually between telcos and OTT gamers, in response to media studies.

COAI on November 22 had said that OTT gamers should instantly compensate telcos for knowledge site visitors they’re driving onto the networks. It additionally sought a licensing and light-touch regulatory framework for such providers.

The OTT section has grown exponentially over the previous two years which has prompted the federal government to carry them underneath their purview. The draft Telecommunication Invoice 2022 has included OTT as a part of the telecommunication service.
