Screenwriter and director David Lynch, who died this month, has been named the recipient of the Writers Guild of America West’s 2025 Laurel Award for Screenwriting Achievement.
The guild says he was conscious of the dignity and accepted a number of weeks earlier than his January 15 passing. It will likely be offered by his Blue Velvet and Twin Peaks star Kyle MacLachlan on the WGA Awards ceremony on February 15 .

The guild’s lifetime achievement award is offered to members who’ve “superior the literature of movement footage and made excellent contributions to the career of the screenwriter.”
“Author-director David Lynch’s uncompromising imaginative and prescient pushed the boundaries of filmmaking,” stated WGAW President Meredith Stiehm. “We’re proud to honor him and his legacy.”

Whereas learning on the Pennsylvania Academy of Fantastic Arts, Lynch first was drawn to filmmaking out of a want to see his work transfer.
