Amid rising digital fraud, the Ministry of Electronics and Data Expertise (MeitY) will prepared the ground to have interaction with stakeholders to curb spam and rip-off calls from over-the-top (OTT) and wealthy communication companies (RCS) platforms.
In a Joint Committee of Regulators’ (JCOR) assembly yesterday, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) chairman Anil Kumar Lahoti highlighted the “want for a collaborative method to fight spam messages and calls creating inconvenience and defrauding the residents”.
JCOR is a TRAI initiative, together with representatives from the Reserve Financial institution of India (RBI), Insurance coverage Regulatory and Growth Authority of India (IRDA), Pension Fund Regulatory and Growth Authority (PFRDA), Securities and Trade Board of India (SEBI) and Ministry of Company Affairs (MoCA).
