The Weeknd is all-in to root, root, root for his house staff. The Toronto native will get behind the town’s Blue Jays in a brand new promo hyping the squad’s ALCS run on their approach to what they hope shall be their first shot at a World Collection title since back-to-back wins in 1992 and 1993.
The 2-minute clip set to the Weeknd’s 2024 Pharrell Williams-produced Playboi Carti collab “Timeless,” the video opens with the echoing strains of Abel’s vocals set over a montage of photographs of Toronto at first gentle, dramatic photographs of the Jays’ Rogers Centre house subject and the grounds crew getting the sector prepared as an announcer excitedly hypes the staff’s first playoff collection win since 2016.
“Timeless moments, we’ve had just a few,” the Weeknd says in a voice-over within the clip that mixes in highlights from the staff’s most iconic victories. “Items of historical past was eternal reminiscences. Now, these Blue Jays, armed with a brand new edge and a never-say-die angle discover themselves on the point of a legacy all on their very own. Our metropolis, buzzing. Our nation, consumed. The Jays got here up brief throughout their first ALCS match-up with the Seattle Mariners on Sunday, shedding 3-1 within the first of the best-of-seven collection; the groups shall be again at it in Toronto on Monday night time (Oct. 13).
