The Library of Congress introduced 25 movies for preservation within the 2025 Nationwide Movie Registry on Thursday (January 29), together with traditional movies equivalent to 1984’s The Karate Child, 1995’s Clueless, and 1994’s Philadelphia.

Based on a press launch, the highest movie title nominated by the general public for 2025 inclusion was John Carpenter’s 1982 horror movie, The Factor. Different movies that had “very robust public assist” have been 1998’s The Truman Present and 2004’s The Incredibles.

The alternatives for 2025 additionally embody six silent movies, 4 documentaries, two musicals, and one animated movie.

The movies have been chosen on account of their “cultural, historic or aesthetic significance to protect the nation’s movie heritage,” in line with the press launch.
