James Marsden Calls ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ a ‘Homecoming’

James Marsden couldn’t be happier to drag his iconic Cyclops visor again on for an additional on-screen flip because the X-Males hero.

Marsden will return as Cyclops/Scott Summers within the upcoming MCU installment Avengers: Doomsday, and the actor says he’s very “excited” to slide again into the position he first dropped at display screen in Bryan Singer’s 2000 X-Males movie.

“I used to be excited since you’re part of one thing gigantic, and I’ve spent 20 years listening to folks say, ‘When are you coming again? When are you coming again? Are you coming again?’ I am lifeless. Effectively, perhaps not,” Marsden lately instructed Self-importance Truthful.

The 51-year-old actor, who was about 26 years previous when X-Males premiered in 2000, joked that he would have had “a troublesome time struggling to get [back] into costume in the event that they waited a pair extra years” to carry his character again.

Marsden reprised his position as Cyclops in 2003’s X2 and 2006’s X-Males: The Final Stand. Within the latter movie, his character tragically dies by the hands of his lover Jean Gray’s alternate persona Phoenix early within the film.

The actor additionally made a cameo look as Cyclops within the 2014 film X-Males: Days of Future Previous.

The actor will seem in Avengers: Doomsday together with a number of different unique stars from the 2000s’ X-Males trilogy, together with Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellan (Magneto), Kelsey Grammer (Beast), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), and Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler).

The film will observe the Avengers, Implausible 4, X-Males, Wakandans, and New Avengers crew as they face off towards Physician Doom, performed by Robert Downey Jr.

Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18, 2026.
