Netflix enters HK pay TV market with discount affords
Web streaming pioneer Netflix has rolled out its over-the-top (OTT) service in Hong Kong for as little as HK$63 a month hoping to creating inroads into the town’s pay TV market.
Hong Kong is amongst 130 new markets – which exclude the mainland – during which the corporate rolled out the service yesterday (January 7, 2016), taking the full to 190 international locations.
OTT functions ship companies over the web that bypass conventional distribution channels from telecommunications, cable or satellite tv for pc community operators.
Netflix, which is at present in talks with mounted line broadband community service supplier Hong Kong Broadband Community regarding a partnership to distribute its programmes, will gasoline competitors and hit onerous different TV companies in Hong Kong, analysts stated.
