Lucy Dacus has launched the video for “Planting Tomatoes” after screening the movie final evening in New York Metropolis. The self-directed video honors Dacus’ dwelling of Richmond, together with college students from SPARC — a performing arts program that Dacus participated in.
“I obtained to attend SPARC when my mother was a trainer there,” Dacus says. “It was essential for me at that age to be taken significantly by adults, to have individuals I appeared as much as consider in me, and to be taught that it’s a worthwhile aim to specific oneself. That may have been a significant lesson whether or not or not I ended up doing music, however I’m certain it’s no small a part of why I’m snug doing what I do.”

On Instagram, she thanked her father for “driving and coordinating” the pedicab, the children concerned, and Richmond, Virginia. Featured within the video are a handful of Dacus’ favourite locations, together with Dogwood Dell, Hollywood Cemetery, James River Park Pony Pasture, and her pals’ houses.
On July 30, Dacus will host a screening in Richmond with a Q&A and a displaying of the 1993 movie The Secret Backyard.
