“We aren’t going to levy a licence payment on OTTs; that was not the purpose,” the reported quoted the official as saying.

Main telecom gamers corresponding to Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Concept, have been persistently asking the federal government to carry OTTs below the licensing regime and, therefore, be liable to pay levies, fees and taxes, which are presently levied on carriers. 

The telcos have additionally urged the federal government to make sure that OTTs are mandated to adjust to safety necessities, lawful interception and different regulatory obligations.
