Searchlight’s All of Us Strangers leads the 2024 Dorian Awards movie nominations with 9, adopted by the Warner Bros juggernaut Barbie with seven. Netflix’s Could December is subsequent with six noms, A24’s Previous Lives (5) and Searchlight’s Poor Issues (4). All 5 will compete for the marquee Greatest Movie of the Yr prize, introduced by GALECA: The Society of LGBTQ Leisure Critics.
All of Us Strangers will face off towards MGM’s Bottoms, Mubi/SBS’ Passages, Netfix’s Rustin (Netflix and Amazon MGM’s Saltburn for LGBTQ Movie of the Yr.
The Director of the Yr race pits Oscar-snubbed Barbie helmer Greta Gerwig towards Andrew Haigh (All of Us Strangers), Todd Haynes (Could December), Christopher Nolan (Common’s Oppenheimer) and Celine Music (Previous Lives).
Together with such offbeat classes as Campy Flick and Unsung Movie of the yr, the Dorians will debut three new ones in 2024: LGBTQ Screenplay of the Yr, LGBTQ Non-English Language Movie of the Yr and Style Movie of the Yr, which focuses on sci-fi, horror and fantasy pics.
