KUALA LUMPUR: Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) will speed up its fibre deployment in Sabah, focusing on a minimal of 145,000 premises to be linked within the subsequent three years from 2022 – 2025, reaching 58% of fibre protection within the state.

“TM has invested greater than RM1.1bil in capital expenditure (capex) in Sabah since 2012 in direction of enhancing connectivity and fiberisation within the state,” group chief govt officer Imri Mokhtar mentioned in an announcement.

“With a complete of 32,000km fibre optic cables statewide, TM has linked near 282,000 premises in Sabah, along with the rollout of 59 fibre connectivity websites at colleges within the state which function factors of presence (POPs).

“Cumulatively, TM has deployed over 600,000km fibre optic cables nationwide, and can proceed to broaden in keeping with the implementation of Jendela,” he added.

To allow sooner content material downloading and lowered latency, TM deployed the TM web alternate (TMiX) nodes domestically in Kota Kinabalu and Penampang in addition to upcoming ones in Inanam, Kinarut, Menggatal and Putatan, anticipated to be prepared by December 2022.
