Media and leisure business stakeholders have urged Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to limit its suggestions on the Nationwide Broadcasting Coverage (NBP) to the broadcasting sector and exclude non-broadcasting points like OTT, on-line gaming, movie, and music as they’re past its remit. Stakeholders just like the Indian Broadcasting and Digital Basis (IBDF) and the Web and Cell Affiliation of India (IAMAI) have urged the telecom regulator to restrict its suggestions on the NBP to points raised by the ministry of data and broadcasting (MIB) in its reference letter to Trai.

In its session paper ‘Inputs for the Formulation of Nationwide Broadcasting Coverage-2024’ dated April 2, Trai has sought stakeholder suggestions on regulatory points and coverage measures that the federal government ought to undertake to spice up over-the-top (OTT), movie, music, and on-line gaming.
