The Critics’ Alternative Affiliation kicked off Satisfaction Month on Friday with its first-ever Celebration of LGBTQ+ Cinema & Tv.

Hosted by Pleasure Trip and Good Hassle star Sherry Cola, the inaugural gala acknowledged the achievements of the LGBTQ leisure neighborhood, with Nathan Lane, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez and RuPaul’s Drag Race among the many honorees.

Lane was introduced with the Profession Achievement Award, following years of seminal onscreen roles in The Birdcage, The Lion King and Dicks: The Musical. Rodriguez earned the Vanguard Award for her efficiency on the Apple TV+ collection Loot, and RPDR was introduced with the Trailblazer Award.

“It’s so particular, celebrating the work and the resilience and the great thing about the LGBTQ+ neighborhood,” Cola informed CCA on the purple carpet. “That’s all I care about. Once I get up, that’s the mantra. Let’s hold combating and make noise, and never accept something lower than what we deserve.”

Different honorees included Abe Sylvia, Carl Clemons-Hopkins, Chris Perfetti, the producers of Fellow Vacationers, George Takei, Henry R. Muñoz III, Kristen Kish, Luke Gilford, Shakina and We’re Right here.

Charlize Theron was in attendance for the occasion, presenting the Actuality TV Award to We’re Right here, which was accepted by co-creators Johnnie Ingram and Stephen Warren, together with showrunner Peter LoGreco, and stars Sasha Velour, Priyanka, Jaida Essence Corridor and Latrice Royale.

Ricky Martin additionally made an look, presenting the Showrunner Award to Palm Royale‘s Sylvia. “I knew I wished to be part of this present earlier than I even learn the script.
