Hosted by Kumail Nanjiani, the 84th annual awards ceremony acknowledged Mel Brooks, Quinta Brunson, Star Trek and extra storytellers for its first time on the West Coast because it launched in 1940.
Brooks obtained the Profession Achievement Award for breaking “floor by his use of comedy as a type of resistance” all through his storied profession, based on Peabody.
