The Last Dinner Party on the Fresh Rock ‘n’ Roll of the ’70s

Despite the fact that they’re round three many years too late to have lived via it themselves, The Final Dinner Occasion’s favourite decade of sound is the ’70s.

The British indie rockers, whose sound, music, and magnificence are closely influenced by the rock period, shared their favourite ’70s inspirations with SPIN and Bose for our Many years of Sound collaboration.

Three out of 5 TLDP members showcased their wide-ranging style and data of ’70s music, via naming varied acts and influences. Bassist Georgia Davies lists Black Sabbath, Kool & the Gang, and Dolly Parton as the highest selections for a hypothetical ’70s music pageant invoice. Then lead singer Abigail Morris says David Bowie, Joni Mitchell, and the Intercourse Pistols are probably the most influential artists of the last decade.

The band’s flutist and guitarist Emily Roberts appreciates that the ’70s was a decade of musical invention and a time when rock artists have been experimenting with varied genres.

“I’d have cherished the thought within the ’70s,” Roberts says, “of the beginning of rock ‘n’ roll being so latest that each thought that you just write is actually contemporary and also you don’t have many years of rock ‘n’ roll earlier than you. It’s all simply new.”
