The Affiliation of Comms and Expertise is an trade physique that advocates for an enabling coverage and regulatory atmosphere and has the CEOs of MTN and Vodacom as board members.

Its CEO, Nomvuyiso Batyi, informed the committee that the over-the-top providers needed to enter into agreements with the cell community operators as a result of they’d been working freely within the nation.

“So, after I say excessive providers, I imply these folks which might be utilizing a variety of bandwidth, like your Netflix, like your YouTube, like your TikTok. They’re free riders. That’s what I might name them. They’re right here to free experience in our nation, and nobody is holding them accountable.”
