Lower than 36 hours after saying her long-awaited fourth album, Misplaced Weekend, Phoebe Bridgers has shared one other preview of the Aug. 14 Lifeless Oceans launch with the brand new single “Misplaced Boys.”
It’s accompanied by a surreal Renaissance faire-themed video directed by Lance Oppenheim and Pablo Rochat and co-starring Skyler Gisondo and the Knights of Debracey Productions. It finds Bridgers and a forged of costumed members immersed in live-action position play, persevering with the offbeat visible world launched alongside the album announcement. In an intriguing twist, Oppenheim beforehand directed a 2024 HBO documentary about Renaissance fare tradition, Ren Faire.

As SPIN reported yesterday (June 24), Misplaced Weekend marks Bridgers’ first solo album since 2020’s Punisher and follows years spent balancing boygenius, collaborations and soundtrack work. The report boasts a powerful listing of collaborators, and “Misplaced Boys” presents an early indication of its expansive roster. The monitor was co-produced by Bridgers alongside longtime collaborators Tony Berg and Ethan Gruska, with Jack Antonoff additionally sharing manufacturing duties and future tour mate Alex G contributing further manufacturing.
Bridgers can be joined on “Misplaced Boys” by boygenius bandmates Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker on vocals, whereas Nickel Creek and Punch Brothers virtuoso Chris Thile provides mandolin. Soul Coughing bassist Sebastian Steinberg contributes upright bass, Rob Moose provides string preparations, Caroline Shaw handles vocal preparations and harmonies, and Blake Mills, Christian Lee Hutson, Marshall Vore and Nate Walcott all make appearances. Antonoff performs drums, guitar, synths and vocoder, whereas Alex G contributes drums and what’s charmingly credited as “voice memo.”
Bridgers will help Misplaced Weekend on the aptly named The Misplaced Tour, which begins Sept. 15 in Indianapolis and runs via North America earlier than heading to the U.Okay. and Europe later within the yr.
