Mary hopes the graphic novels and upcoming animated collection will encourage extra children to learn.
Mary: My husband and I are completely concerned with the brand new animated collection, and up to now, so good. The deal is, if I can carry extra readers into the fold, that is what issues. I do not need children to see one thing and substitute it for the books.
For example, the graphic novel of Christmas in Camelot that is popping out quickly is so stunning. It is superb work by Kelly and Nichole Matthews, and it is tailored from my books by my greatest good friend, Jenny Laird. I consulted with educators earlier than doing the graphic novel and requested, “Will this change my chapter books?”
They stated, “No, we discovered that it is a bridge. They’re going to begin right here with the photographs, after which they will go into the chapter books.” I hope that is true, and likewise that the animated collection will function a bridge.
There’s an actual disaster at the moment with literacy and folks not studying. I do not assume the mission of getting children throughout that bridge has ever been extra pressing. Do not simply learn Magic Tree Home after which go in your cellphone and your movies. Choose up one other ebook.
In my time remaining on this earth, I hope to encourage extra children to grow to be readers, love studying, and skim all their lives.
