What has been probably the most rewarding and probably the most difficult half about navigating your profession as a younger, Black baby star?
Probably the most rewarding half for me was having different younger ladies see themselves in me and being that illustration for them. The primary essential Black lady on Stranger Issues; them seeing themselves in that after which seeing a Black lady on an animated sequence exploring an intergalactic world. That is essential and that is rewarding. I would like different younger ladies of shade to see that, as a result of I used to wish to see that extra once I was youthful.
It is going to at all times be a battle while you’re an individual of shade. Attempting to get someplace on this business, or anyplace in life, you are at all times gonna must put somewhat bit extra effort into something you do. So while you sort of, quote unquote, “make it” or get to the purpose the place you are somebody in your profession and also you’re actually blissful, you sort of must maintain that standing up there. You need to watch out of all the things that you just say and do, as a result of something may jeopardize that, particularly for us. Yeah, that is the difficult half. We do not have a whole lot of leeway after we do make it and we do not have a whole lot of room to mess up.
